Andalusia: Around Ronda and Gibraltar

Under the southern sun – 14/04-21/04/2018

In April, as we at home are swathed in mist, drizzle and drabness, the southern sun shines down on Andalusia from pure blue skies. The almond trees are in bloom, and temperatures are warm and mild. Beneath the Mediterranean sun you will get the season under way with us on Spain's southernmost peak. You will sample Andalusian flair in the small, picturesque town of Ronda, neatly positioned between the Sierra de Grazalema and the Sierra de las Nieves, where the summits soar to almost 2000 m. In between three lovely rides in the Ronda area, you will go on a circular, three-day tour towards the sea, which you reach Gibraltar with its rock and apes.

This is both the most southerly and westerly trip in the Epic Climbs portfolio. And the only one on which you cross the British border! Over 300 days of sunshine per year. Two dream passes of over 1100 m to be ridden. Spend the night in two of Andalusia's most famous white towns. One night on the border between the Mediterranean and the Atlantic. Andalusian night-life. Plenty of elevation gain. And flight and bike hire included, of course. There are lots of reasons to open your season in Andalusia.

The south awaits you.

The Guides

Robert – The World Record Holder

Robert is the strongest cyclist in the Epic Climbs squad. His trophy cabinet is packed - including two for winning the Race Across The Alps, and he's the current world record holder for most elevation gain in 24 hours. And just a quiet, feet-on-the-ground sort of guy. A rich addition to any Epic Climbs trip.

Roberto – The Andalucian

quäldich-Guide Roberto Mestanza

A Spaniard from Upper Bavaria, for years one of our most loyal clients. Looking forward to the first trip he has organised, and to introducing you to the Andalucian landscapes and way of life.

Hagen – el guía jefe andaluz

Our guy from the Rhön now has his training base in: Granada and the Sierra Nevada. As our cultural attaché to Andalucia, he knows the tapas by their first name. Motivated and passionate. Devout believer in wearing white socks.
