Mountain training in Andalusia (Playa Granada)

Let your legs do the talking in March – 17/03-24/03/2018

Given the success of the first edition of our Epic Climbs mountain training week in Andalucia in 2017, in 2018 we’ll again be saying “Bienvenidos a Motril/Playa Granada!”

Our idea:

Stable weather and pleasant temperatures Spectacular scenery. Plenty of climbing. Quality road surfaces. Well away from the cycling circus on that well-known Mediterranean island. Great service with flights and bike hire.

Our terrain:

The area around Motril, population 60,000, on Granada's southern coast, a good hour west of Malaga. Ideal for hilly rides of 90 to 150 kms. An awful lot of climbs from 0 to 1500m. From gentle to steep. Up and down. Lots of gear changes. At the centre of the real Andalusia: Through the Alpujarras to the ham village of Trevélez, up the Anglirú of the South (Peña Escrita), up the lonely Cabra to the Collado de los Poyos del Pescado, to a tiny café on the road or a chiringuito (beach bar) for the standard, laid-back, Andalusian experience.

Our base camp:

We pitch camp right on the Playa de Granada in Motril, where our 4-star barracks overlooking the sea offers perfect chillout conditions every night. We can even keep our road bikes - mostly Spanish-made, of course - in our room. The buffet is ready. mountain training in Andalusia. Performance. Pain. Passion.

The Guides

Hagen – el guía jefe andaluz

Our guy from the Rhön now has his training base in: Granada and the Sierra Nevada. As our cultural attaché to Andalucia, he knows the tapas by their first name. Motivated and passionate. Devout believer in wearing white socks.

Tobias – The Bolt

quäldich-Guide Tobias Heß

Tobias takes after his name - he's just about unstoppable on the flat or in the mountains. So we mostly use him as a guide to the fast group.

Paul – The Pilot

quäldich-Guide Paul Velten

A friendly, cheerful Dortmunder and a huge believer in the dolce vita. Totally devoted to looking after his flock and, once on the road, it's diesel to the top and jet fuel to the bottom.

Getting there

Lean back - The flight and the shuttle to and from our mountain goal is our problem!

The price includes the flight to Malaga from Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Munich, Hamburg, Berlin, Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden. Other airports upon request.

There follows a bus transfer of about 1.5h to Motril.

NB: Independent travel is possible (price upon request) Transfer to/from Malaga is by our shuttle (probably around 12 midday and late afternoon/evening on the day of your arrival)
